Mr. Neville is a vocalist\, songwriter\,\npercussionist\, painter\, cultural icon and activist who richly deserves his Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.\nBorn in 1948 in New Orleans\, the youngest of the Neville Brothers was raised in a musical household\,\nwith his brothers Aaron\, Art and Charles all making waves on the local musical scene. Their uncle George\nLandry was Big Chief Jolly of the Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Indian Tribe\, and young Cyril cut his\nteeth singing and playing percussion with the group. At 19\, he joined his brother’s band\, Art Neville and\nthe Neville Sounds\, and released his first single a year later. \nArt’s band soon merged into the seminal group\, The Meters\, with Cyril\, guitarist Leo Nocentelli\, bassist George Porter\, Jr. and drummer Zigaboo Modeliste. Their early releases – the singles “Sissy Strut\, “Look-A-Py-Py” and “Sophisticated Sissy\,” as well as the Cabbage\nAlley and the Neville Brothers Fire on the Bayou have become classics\, and their funky grooves built a foundation for a large\nswath of today’s American popular music. The Meter’s reputation was cemented when the Rolling Stones offered them an opening\nspot on their 1975 world tour. Art and Cyril left The Meters in 1977\, and with Aaron and Charles\nformed the Neville Brothers. For 35 years the group rocked audiences from Tipitinas in New Orleans to Taipei playing venues\nall over the world with their imminently danceable funk rock. Their recordings such as the Grammy-winning Yellow Moon and equally\nsuccessful follow-up Brother’s Keeper have entered the canon of classic American Music. The Neville Brothers have received four\nnominations to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and hopefully one day will receive their long overdue flowers there. \nOne of Cyril’s current projects includes touring with his son’s band\, Omari Neville and the Fuel\, but he\ncan also be heard performing with fellow Meter Goerge Porter\, Jr\, Trombone Shorty and his nephew Ivan\nNeville’s band Dumpstafunk.\nMr. Neville has had a number of other musical projects over the years\, including The Endangered Species\nBand\, and the Uptown All Stars as well as Swamp Funk. After Hurricane Katrina\, bluesman Tab Benoit\nformed the supergroup Voice of the Wetlands to advocate for coastal protections with Cyril Neville front\nand center stage. Mr. Neville has also has also toured singing with the funk powerhouse Galactic. In\n2011 Mr. Neville formed his own supergroup\, Royal Southern Brotherhood\, with Devon Allman\, Mike Zito\,\nCharlie Wooten and Yonrico Scott.\nMr. Neville has recorded with a Who’s Who of the rock world including Bob Dylan\, Jimmy Buffett\, Dr.\nJohn\, Willie Nelson\, Branford Marsalis\, and Carlos Santana. He is a prolific writer\, co-authoring songs\nwith Bono\, Allen Toussant\, Trombone Shorty and Taj Mahal among many. Mr. Neville has\nmade a number of television appearances including Saturday Night Live\, NCIS: New\nOrleans and HBO’s Treme. For many hears he also operated his own Endangered\nSpecies record label. Now he works closely with senior manager Lara Lavi and her\nproduction company Dreaming In Color Entertainment to release new music including\nhis latest single “Lemonade\,” co-written with and produced by renowned trumpet player\nShamarr Allen releasing in July 2025. \nCyril Neville has collected many accolades over the course of his 50 years plus career\, including a\nGrammy award for the song\, “Healing Chant” from the 1989 album\, Yellow Moon produced by Daniel\nLanois. Playing His First Album In Its Entirety + All The Fan Favorites \nDoors 7:30pm | Tickets: early bird $25 \n$27 Advance\, $35 Day of Show \nMickey Avalon’s life story plays out like an episode of VH1’s ‘Behind The Music\,” marred by personal tragedy\, triumphs and immense pain. Avalon’s back-story begins on the streets of Hollywood\, California. Raised by his heroin-addicted father\, he began selling pot at a young age\, a trade he acquired from his mother. In an attempt to clean up his act\, Mickey converted to Orthodox Judaism in his late teens\, an effort that didn’t last due to constant family tragedy\, such as his father’s death in a tragic drunk driving accident. \nBy his early 20s\, Mickey had married\, had a daughter\, and moved out of California\, relocating to Portland\, Oregon. The serine surroundings of the Pacific Northwest couldn’t hide Mickey from his past for long\, as his drug addled Hollywood lifestyle caught up with him in the form of an uncontrollable heroin addiction. As his life neared rock bottom\, Mickey found himself broke\, divorced\, and turning to prostitution\, just to support his smack habit. With a desire to once again get his life back on track\, Avalon moved in with his sister\, and the pair set out on the road to recovery. Tragedy struck again when his sister relapsed\, and died from a heroin overdose. \nAfter the deaths of both his father and sister\, Mickey decided that he wanted more out of life\, moved back to Los Angeles\, and chose to make one final attempt to clean up his act. Shortly after his return\, Mickey was befriended by ex-MTV VJ Simon Rex (aka Dirt Nasty)\, who encouraged Avalon to pursue his passion of hip-hop and even collaborated with him on some tracks. At the time\, Avalon was staying in a sober living facility and had a strict curfew\, so Dirt Nasty began passing out Mickey’s demo at Hollywood clubs\, which helped Mickey develop a following among fans of the Los Angeles nightclub scene. \nAs Mickey’s popularity grew\, he began to sell out clubs throughout California with his legendary live show. Soon after Interscope Records took notice of the guerilla promotions tactics and signed Avalon to the label in 2005. Through Interscope\, Avalon released his now classic self-titled debut album\, which showcased his unique rhyming style and indulgent lyrics. Inspired by his experiences on the streets with drugs and prostitution\, the raw honesty of his songs immediately resonated with audiences. Fan favorites “Jane Fonda\,” “Mr. Right” and “My Dick” quickly spread across the internet and mainstream radio\, turning Mickey Avalon into a household name. Avalon quickly took to the road and was performing sold-out shows alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers\, Travis Barker and DJ AM\, Snoop Dogg\, Stephen Marley and Slightly Stoopid. \nMickey’s contagious demeanor and unique writing style has made him a hot commodity in the music industry as hip-hop artist Young Jeezy and producer Jermaine Dupri jumped at the chance to collaborate with him for a Boost Mobile commercial. Avalon then joined forces with rock acts the Happy Mondays\, and Unwritten Law\, with whom he co-wrote the radio hit “Shoulda Known Better”. His music has been featured in countless movies and television series including the HBO’s series Hung\, the animated series American Dad\, the Duke Nukem Forever video game\, Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay and most recently in the trailers for the Cameron Diaz film “Bad Teacher.”
