DESCRIPTION:Buck-O-Nine (Cut Out The Noise Album Release Show) With Special Guests Beta 7 and more \n\nBuck-O-Nine was founded in San Diego\, California in 1992. At the time\, the band was on the horizon of a change in the music industry. With backgrounds in punk/metal\, reggae and 2nd wave ska bands\, Buck-O-Nine had the formula for what was to become a new mutation of sounds\, inspired by the founders of the 3rd wave of ska\, such as Fishbone\, Operation Ivy\, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the Voodoo Glow Skulls. \nDuring the early years of 1992-1994\, the band released the “Buck Naked” demo tape\, which was well-received locally. As the band continued to play local and regional shows\, often opening for touring ska and punk acts such as Bad Manners\, Green Day\, The Bosstones and Skankin’ Pickle\, they honed their sound and recorded a 7” record\, and then their first album\, “Songs in the Key of Bree\,” in 1994. On the heels of the album release\, Buck-O-Nine would embark on their first ever national tour in support of Gangster Fun and MU330. \nBarely a year later\, the band would release its second album\, “Barfly” on Taang! Records. The album consisted of newly written material and a handful of cover songs\, many of which would become staples of their live show to this day. During this time\, the band continued to tour regularly\, supporting acts such as The Specials and Agent Orange\, while also embarking on headlining tours and teaming up with 3rd wave peers such as Suicide Machines. The band would also venture to Japan for the first time\, supporting Voodoo Glow Skulls. \nBy 1996\, the writing was on the wall that ska was potentially going to be the “next big thing” and the band began to be courted by bigger record labels. Eventually signing with TVT records\, the band released its third and most successful release\, “Twenty Eight Teeth\,” in 1997. The album featured the radio-friendly alternative hit “My Town\,” an homage to their home town of San Diego\, that would be synonymous with the band’s public image going forward. \nBy 1999\, times were changing\, and so was Buck-O-Nine. The band released its fourth studio album\, “Libido\,” which featured a musical departure from their original sound\, as the band’s songwriting matured. Buck-O-Nine continued a rigorous touring schedule through the end of 1999\, but by 2000 went on a short hiatus\, and switched gears to making and performing music for enjoyment and comradery\, rather than trying to make a living at it. \nThe 2000’s would see the band continue to write and record music and play live shows as it entered a phase of “semi-retirement.” Buck-O-Nine would go on regular mini-tours\, with trips up and down the western United States\, a return to Japan\, and a first-ever tour of the UK. 2007 saw the release of “Sustain\,” which was a return to the band’s approach of writing hard-hitting ska-punk numbers. 2019 saw the release of the band’s sixth studio album\, “FunDayMental.” \n\nOther highlights included trips to Chicago and New England to support The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at two festival shows\, and a return to Japan for festival and club dates. \nIn the midst of and wake of the COVID-19 pandemic\, Buck-O-Nine focused on writing new material\, and managed to record the live-in-the-studio album “572 Days Later\,” marking the number of days since the group had last been able to get together in the same room to perform. \nThe years since COVID have seen the band make notable appearances at the 2021 Supernova Ska Festival\, co-headline the “In Defense of Ska” tour in 2022\, play the Salty Dog Cruise in 2023\, and Punk Rock Bowling in 2024. \n2025 sees the band releasing its seventh studio album\, “Cut Out the Noise.” The album continues to cement the band’s roots in third-wave ska\, while also challenging themselves to expand musical horizons.
